Kajang is a vibrant township located in the Hulu Langat district of Selangor, Malaysia. With a population of approximately 1.05 million people, according to the 2020 census, it is a bustling and rapidly growing area. One theory suggests that it stems from the language of the Temuan tribes, who referred to their art of weaving screwpine or pandanus leaves as "kajang." These leaves were abundant in the area. Another theory connects the name to settlers from the neighboring Sungai Ujong domain, who constructed huts with thatched roofs made from folded screwpine leaves, known as "lipat kajang." Additionally, it is speculated that the Buginese word "berkajang," meaning camp or accommodation, may have influenced the name.
